The City of Hoover

Hoover, Alabama is the 6th largest City in Alabama, with a population just under 90,000 people.  We cover 50 square miles in beautiful central Alabama.

We were founded in 1967 as a small suburb of Birmingham, Alabama.  However, our charming neighborhoods, quality schools, safe environment, and overall excellent quality of life have led to rapid growth.  Hoover is now a large city in its own right.

Hoover City Schools is rated one of the best in the state, and routinely excels in academics and athletics.  The system was also rated one of the safest in the nation.

With over 4000 businesses in Hoover responsible for over 4 billion in retail sales, the city is a retail powerhouse in the Southeast.  2 major interstates, and several major state highways provide easy access to our shopping areas, and our world-class police and fire organizations ensure public safety is a top priority.

While these factors have given Hoover a reputation for “retail and rooftops”, a closer examination reveals much more is happening in our city.  Companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Regions Bank, Bud’s Best Cookies, and a host of other corporate citizens have made Hoover their home.

Significant foreign investment in Alabama has brought people from many countries to our city.  Over 40 major languages are spoken in natively homes all across our city.

Hoover is a great city with great people living here.  We know that by building relationships with people here and all over the world, we can make it even better!
